Sunny Acres’ newly designed traditional camp program offers children aged 3-12 the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities ranging from sports to the arts. Split into three distinct sections, this camp program offers children the chance to enjoy activities that are both exciting and age appropriate. Campers will have the chance to try their hand at soccer, baseball, football, basketball, wall-climbing, floor-hockey, gymnastics, tennis and so much more. In addition to sports, campers will have the chance to participate in traditional arts and crafts activities, as well as jewelry making, drama, cheerleading and dance. Each week also comes packed with theme days, sports tournaments, contests, and camp wide special events!


Swimming lessons are provided daily by certified Red Cross instructors. Lessons take place in our indoor heated swimming pool. Our activity schedule is guaranteed, even if it rains, as we have a spacious sport center fully equipped with mini gyms, 3 full sized gymnasiums, art centers, dance rooms, and a drama studio. All of our facilities are right here on our camp grounds! This program is ideal for campers who want to try a little bit of everything at camp.


New!! In addition to our customary camp features each section of the Sunny Acres Traditional Program offers unique activities that are exciting and exclusive to each section, and age group at camp. Schedules will be changing every week so that your children are guaranteed to have an awesome time throughout the summer.


New! Sunny Starters

Sunny Starters is an exciting new section created for campers aged 3 to 5 years old (pre-k). Campers in the section will get the opportunity to learn what the whole camp experience is about with caring and nurturing group leaders. Each week is filled with lots of fun activities that are age appropriate.  With small bunk ratios, the counselors pay special attention to their campers’ needs, and work around the pace the children set. In addition to the traditional activities, the Sunny Starters section gets to take part in special theme days, dress up days, lunch parties and our new Adventure Zone!!



New! Kids Club

Kids Club is a fantastic camp section that has been created specifically for campers who have completed Kindergarten to Grade 2. New this summer, campers in Kids Club will participate in Tournament Tuesdays, Spirit Club competitions and goofy games. In addition to all of these great activities, campers will get to take part in our brand new Kidventure afternoon designed specifically for kids club members and guaranteed to be fun for all.    


New! All-Stars

Our Sunny Acres All-Stars section was created for campers in grades 3-5 and allows kids to explore the activities in a more in-depth and age appropriate manner. Campers can look forward to late night stays, special Tuesday lunches, and weekly sports leagues and competitions. This section will also have weekly Kids Choice activities, where campers can select their favorite games or sports as an additional treat. This way campers can choose the activities that they enjoy most!


Teen Zone

Teen Zone is a section of our traditional camp program especially created and designed for the oldest campers in camp (grades 6 and 7). In addition to experiencing many of the popular and exciting daily Sunny Acres activities, campers will also get a chance to get their feet wet with the younger campers as they help plan and execute activities for our Sunny Starters. Teen Zone is a great transition between camper and Counselor In Training. 

 

Leap Ahead

This summer we are excited to offer a newly designed Counselor in Training program (C.I.T) for campers who have completed grades 8 and 9. Leap Ahead provides our older campers with leadership skills and counselor experiences to prepare them to be future camp counselors. Campers will spend the majority of their week on bunk placements shadowing Sunny Acres staff members. In addition, these campers will have one optional outing a week (to be determined at a later date). An evaluation will be provided to each CIT at the end of their camp stay. NEW!!! CIT campers will also have the option to complete their Bronze Medallion certification course for an additional fee. If interested please contact the camp office.

  

New! SportZone

SportZone is a unique program for campers aged 5 – 12 years old. Ideal for children who love to play and compete in an all-sports environment, SportZone has been designed to encourage skill acquisition, cooperation, and teamwork. Campers will have the opportunity to play their favorite sports in a competitive atmosphere while they learn about team play and sportsmanship. Every week, one sport is emphasized through drills, games, and competitions, culminating in our signature “Sunny Acres Championship Friday”. Campers will be divided into our two in-house leagues, with daily updates on their performance, top scorers, team leaders, and more. With up-to-date stats, news and game highlights on our website weekly, every child has a chance to be a superstar!


New!! This summer in addition to our weekly sports theme, campers will have Kids Pick sport activities where they will have the opportunity to try different sports of their choice. Get ready for exciting sports like hand-ball, four corner soccer, Wall ball, capture the flag and so much more!


NEW! Director’s Cut

Lights, Camera, Action! Sunny Acres is proud to present Director’s Cut, a program created for campers in grades 6-9 who enjoy film production. This two-week program allows campers to explore their artistic creativity as they plan, create and produce their very own short film. Under the guidance and supervision of skilled staff, campers will get hands-on training while learning basic camera and production techniques. Campers will be given copies of their short film at the end of their camp stay.


NEW! Journalism 101

Reporters get ready for Journalism 101! This camp program will give campers in grades 5-8 the opportunity to explore and create a newspaper of their own. Throughout the week, campers will conduct interviews, do field research, and produce a Sunny Acres Times newsletter that will be posted on the camp website for all to enjoy. In addition, campers will enjoy fun activities such as swimming, games, special event and much more.


Creative Arts Zone

The Creative Arts Zone is the perfect place for your child to showcase their imaginations and artistic skills at Sunny Acres! This summer, we have divided

creative arts zone into two programs:


Drama Camp: This 2-week program will give campers the chance to experience the thrill of live performance, while having fun and learning different aspects of theatre such as acting, singing, dancing, costumes, make-up and set design. Campers work as a team to put together a live play for family and friends to enjoy at the end of the second week.


Dance Camp: Give your child the opportunity to express their creativity and love for dance in this fun program ideal for beginner and experienced dance enthusiasts. Under the direction of experienced dance staff, campers will learn a variety of dance moves choreographed to their favorite pop music, and showcase their talent at the end of session performance. This program also includes daily art activities with an art exhibit following the dance performance.

It’s a Girl thing!

Returning after its very successful debut at Sunny Acres last summer, this unique camp program offers a full week of activities designed for girls completing grades 1 to 5.  With daytime slumber parties, dance, yoga, spa treatments, special art projects, scrapbooking, jewelry making and more, this fun-filled week is sure to be a blast. NEW! Sunny Acres’ School of Wizardry

Calling all Muggles! Sunny Acres’ School of Wizardry is a new program for prospective wizards and witches. From the moment our Hogwarts students are sorted into their houses, the magic begins. During this spell binding week, campers will enjoy Quidditch matches, Defense against the Dark Arts, wand and potion making, and many more Harry Potter activities. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the books or seen the movies; our activities are geared towards anyone with a passion for magic!


The Golf Academy at Sunny Acres

Campers will be taught the fundamentals of golf both on and off the green. Participating in a week long clinic, each golfer will be able to develop their swing while learning more about the game itself. Whether you’re an eager beginner or a seasoned pro, skills are sure to improve during our 5 day clinic. Campers will be brought to Centre de Golf Pincourt in the mornings and will return to camp in time for lunch. The afternoon will be spent participating in traditional camp activities such as swimming, arts & crafts and sports

Saddles Horseback Riding Camp

Saddles Horseback Riding Camp at Sunny Acres is ideal for both beginner and experienced riders who
love being around horses and having fun!! Equitation Elysee, located in St‐Lazare, where they will enjoy a variety of activities aimed at developing their comfort level, knowledge and riding ability, with the guidance of well-trained, experienced riding staff. Such activities include riding lessons, horsemanship and grooming lessons and more. They will be brought back to camp in time for lunch and will spend the afternoon participating in traditional camp activities such as swimming, arts & crafts and sports.


Requirements + Details:

-available to campers finishing kindergarten to grade 6

-campers must wear long pants and boots with a heel (rainboots are ok)

-transportation to and from camp provided


Great Treasure Hunt

Once again, Sunny Acres teams up with Dynamix to bring you the ultimate adventure. Campers will work in teams to conquer some of the most creative and exciting challenges known to kids. It is non-stop and action packed with obstacle courses, innovative sports, giant puzzles and of course some of Dynamix most famous challenges. All the while, campers will be earning beads, bandanas and other cool rewards for displaying sportsmanship, cooperation and positive values. At the end of the day, Great Treasure Hunt is about having fun and learning what it takes to be a part of a successful team.

Caution: You are about to enter a Kidstruction Zone! Grab your toolbox and step into the Kidstuction Zone.   Using your minds, hands, creativity and cooperation, teams will work together to build, assemble and demolish a variety of infrastructures using unique and unexpected items.  Build confidence. Prepare yourself for an exciting journey into the wacky world of Mad Science. Discover life under the ocean and build your own holographic sea. Explore gravity, learn about energy and motion while building a cool catapult. Experiment with and construct your very own robot hand, and many more exciting activities. Eight amazing weeks of hands-on experiments, spectacular demonstration, take-home projects, and non-stop fun!


NEW! Detective Science

SECRET AGENT LAB: Dive into detective work with science at your side! Learn the role of a detective, become a superspy and discover the behind the scenes of forensic science. Young investigators get a chance to probe the science of sleuthing in this hands-on program. Get the facts on fingerprinting, facial-feature recognition, art forensics and more. The mad science spy academy is in session!   


Crazy Chemistry

Fun, Educational, and hands-on workshops where Junior Scientists will discover tricks and techniques of a wacky Mad Science Laboratory. Build your own atomic coins, and use a blacklight writer to write your very own secret message that glows in the dark! Prepare to stretch the limit of “bonding” with our super sticky workshop. Behold as your eyes witness melted metal freeze in just a blink. Don’t miss this opportunity to jump on board this great science excursion!


NASA Academy


Mad Science and the NASA Langley Center for Distance Learning have created the NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers, an unparalleled camp program experience that brings the excitement and wonder of NASA's activities to you! This summer we will offer different workshops and activities, which address the aspects of, science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Mad Science is on a mission to spark the imagination of children everywhere with programs that instill a clear understanding of what science is really about and how it affects the world around us.


NEW! Cartoon Club

Welcome to Sunny Acres’ first ever cartoon drawing club. Campers in this program will spend their mornings with a qualified instructor learning to sketch and draw a variety of characters and themes. Afternoons will be dedicated to more traditional camp activities such as swimming, sports and games. At the end of each week, campers will receive a printed copy of their work in the form of a little book. So grab a pencil and paper, sit down with us and have the most fun you'll ever have drawing cartoons!
